The Brief

Virtual production case study. Life Fitness Atmos hotel-gym range, shot on a single LED volume in Leeds. Three products, three city skylines, no location travel. Life Fitness launched the Atmos cardio range for hotel and apartment gyms. The treadmill, elliptical and recumbent bike all needed to feel at home in the kind of premium gym the kit was built for. Shooting in three hotels at three times of day was never going to happen. We built one gym set on the LED volume and changed the city outside the window. Sunset through one skyline, late morning across another, golden hour against a third. Same set, same rig, three finished films from a single studio build.

Creative & Production

One LED volume set, built to match a premium hotel gym. Floor-to-ceiling windows, dumbbell rack, studio floor laid to take the equipment. Three different background plates fed to the wall behind the windows, morning, midday, dusk, with practical light rigged to match each one. The kit swapped between takes. The city swapped between setups. The camera stayed where it was.

Less in-camera VFX compositing, more in-camera filmmaking. The reflections in the consoles and glass panels came off the LED wall during the shoot. Nothing added in post. That is the whole point.

Post-Production

The post pipeline was almost entirely wire removal and VFX clean-up. With the LED volume holding the environment in-camera, the heavy lifting was on the rigging side. We painted out wires, frame supports, and any practical kit that gave away the build. Lighting matched on the day, reflections matched on the day, the final passes just made sure nothing on set told the story it shouldn't.

Edit, sound, colour sign-off, delivered as master files and platform cuts. Animated GIFs were pulled from the final films for trade press and B2B sales decks, ready to drop into email sequences and spec sheets without a separate motion design pass.
