Our team was brought on to facilitate the video production of a thought provoking Christmas 2023 Charity Campaign for Hope For Justice - an organisation that is working towards ending modern slavery and preventing exploitation with the goal of rescuing victims, restoring lives and reforming society. This was a monumental opportunity for us, working on a powerful short film that follows Emer, who's fictional story draws directly from real case studies of survivors and those who are still trapped in their unique human trafficking situations.
The shoot took place on location in Manchester. Over the two days we shot two major scenes, transforming the living room into a Christmas dinner setting and capturing outdoor shots in a car.
It was crucial for us to achieve an accurate tone of voice through the visuals and lighting, making the turning point as impactful as possible. In order to deliver the powerful transition, we executed a lighting change at the end of the dinner scene, which significantly altered the mood going into into the car scene. Shooting on a Steadicam in a limited space was challenging, but everything came together to deliver some compelling, dramatic shots. The whole of cast and crew were extremely efficient, working together to create a video campaign that gives rise to change and justice!
We then completed the colour grading in-house, bringing some further richness and depth to the director’s powerful edit.
Overall, we all finished the shoot feeling extremely grateful and proud to have been part of a campaign that will contribute to positive change and bring awareness to the injustice that still exists in our society.
